The Committee is supported by the Panel of Experts established pursuant to resolution 1973 (2011). It is comprised of six experts and it is home-based. Its current mandate was extended by paragraph 22 of Security Council resolution 2769 (2025) until 15 May 2026.

The Panel of Experts is mandated to:

•    Assist the Committee in carrying out its mandate as specified in paragraph 24 of resolution 1970 (2011) and modified in subsequent resolutions;
