The Committee is supported by the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team pursuant to resolutions 1526 (2004) and 2253 (2015) concerning ISIL (Da'esh), Al-Qaida and the Taliban and associated individuals and entities (hereafter "the Monitoring Team"), comprised of ten experts based in New York. Its current mandate was extended by paragraph 2 of Security Council resolution 2716 (2023) until December 2024.
On 18 June 2025, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1988 (2011) approved a travel ban exemption for Amir Khan Motaqi (TAi.026) regarding his visit to Istanbul, Turkiye, from 19 to 24 June 2025. The purpose of the visit is to attend the 51st Foreign Minister’s Council Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Reaffirms the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo on individuals, groups, undertakings and entities associated with the Taliban in constituting a threat to the peace, stability and security of Afghanistan as designated by the Committee on the List established pursuant to resolution 1988 (2011). Extends the mandate of the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team until December 2017. Requests the Secretary General to publish the 1988 Sanctions List in all official languages of the United Nations.
Imposes an assets freeze, a travel ban and an arms embargo on individuals, groups, undertakings and entities associated with the Taliban in constituting a threat to the peace, stability and security of Afghanistan as designated by the Committee on the List established pursuant to resolution 1988 (2011)
Establishes a Committee to oversee these measures
Decides that the 1267 Monitoring Team, established pursuant to paragraph 7 of resolution 1526 (2004) shall also support the Committee for a period of 18 months
